Five years later, he moved into school leadership in Chatham, where he supervised the English department for eight years and served as an assistant principal for two. He began his career in education as a football coach at Watchung Hills while practicing law and became an English teacher the following year at Hunterdon Central Regional High School. Prior to that, he was the principal at his alma mater, Watchung Hills Regional High School, for over seven years. He is currently the superintendent in Watchung Borough, where he has served his hometown since 2019. A former English teacher and practicing attorney, he has a varied background and wide range of interests, but his curiosity, belief in a growth mindset, and passion for learning are at the heart of his identity. With 26 years of experience in education, George Alexis is a highly versatile and accomplished school leader.
